Community Mediation Training Organized by Chhattisgarh Institute of Arbitration and Mediation (CGIAM) and District Administration

Raigarh, 13 September 2025 – In a joint initiative by the Chhattisgarh Institute of Arbitration and Mediation (CGIAM) and the Raigarh District Administration, small disputes arising in villages can now be resolved locally through community mediation. Patwaris, sarpanches, secretaries, and kotwars were given special training on the legal and practical aspects of mediation.
The training was led by High Court mediator Hamida Siddiqui, who demonstrated how mediation ensures solutions acceptable to both parties, remains confidential, and is legally binding. Participants learned practical techniques through mock sessions to resolve village disputes amicably without going to court.
Collector Mr. Mayank Chaturvedi emphasized that this initiative will promote harmony, save time and resources, and help establish “dispute-free” village councils.
District Panchayat CEO announced that on 2 October, village assemblies will select mediation panels to further strengthen this system. This initiative is expected to reduce judicial burden while fostering social harmony at the grassroots level.
