Cleared the competitive Examination for entry in Judicial Service of Madhya Pradesh Judiciary in 1984. Joined as Civil Judge Class 2 (Junior Division) on 18.11.1985. Promoted to the post of District Judge Cadre in 1997. Got posting as Principal District Judge in 2007. Worked on the post of Director, Chhattisgarh Judicial Academy from the year 2011 to 2014. Again posted as Principal District Judge from July 2014 until the elevation to the post of Judge High Court of Chhattisgarh from 29th September 2016 until the date of retirement i.e. 30.06.2022.

Vivek Tankha was one of the youngest Advocate Generals of Madhya Pradesh (16 February 1999 to 15 November 2003) Tankha was Designated Senior Advocate by the Full Court of the High Court in 1999.[5] He was also the first lawyer from Madhya Pradesh to have been appointed Additional Solicitor General of India. He had played a major role in resolving disputes between Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh after the latter was created in November 2000.[6] Tankha has been representing the Whistle blower in Vypam Scam Case of Madhya Pradesh.

Prof. (Dr.) V.C. Vivekanandan has three decades of teaching and research experience in legal education and served NLS-Bangalore and NALSAR-Hyderabad between 1990 to 2017. He also was the Dean at Rajiv Gandhi School of IP Law at IIT Kharagpur between 2009-2010 and was the founding Dean of the School of Law at Bennett University at Greater Noida during 2017-2019.
